Pocket Notes Transcribed

 It is my way

to start the day

by opening my door

to step outside

breathe in the air

so fresh, so clean, so clear

To marvel at the clouds above

and skies of grey or blue

to feel the sun upon my face

on mornings she shines through

to smell the air

breathe out a prayer

‘ere turning to my work

The Breeze and the Willow Tree

~ The Breeze And The Willow Tree ~

It is my way

to start the day

by opening my door

to step outside

breathe in the air

so fresh, so clean, so clear

to marvel at the clouds afloat

in skies of grey or blue — to

feel the sun upon my face

on mornings she shines through

to smell the air

breathe out a prayer

‘ere turning to my work

~~~~~~~~
how I love a sun kissed morning
especially on a chilly day
bundled up, I bathe a while
in it’s cheerful soothing ray
I notice patterns in my willow
hear music in her dance as she
sways and waves her limbs at me
while leaning on the arms of wind
The slightest breeze
Inspires my tree to
sway and dance a bit
her silent music rocks my soul
as I keep time with it
sometimes they swirl staccato
when the wind is fierce and free, but
I like it best when they slow dance
the breeze and the willow tree
Lone Cloud
 ~ One Lone Cloud ~
Little cloud adrift so high
in that stunning bright blue sky
what are your dreams as you float by
are you content in solitude -- as am I?
Happy to add your unique small self
to the majestic hues of heaven?
One Last Warm Day
~ One Last Warm Day ~
Autumn gold against a brilliant sky
a glorious day to savor in farewell
warm sunshine’s blanket until the
Spring
Tomorrow’s chill may keep me in the house
so today I’ll soak in every moment of this
Tantalizing April
 ~ Tantalizing April ~
Cloud filtered sun
and a stiff little breeze
belies the warm promise
of mid sixty degrees
so I don a light sweatshirt to
sit on my balcony coffee in hand
in the quiet of the morning with
no one about  I gaze at near
tree buds soon to burst out
I dream of the summer, of
warm days to come and
spring flowers ready to
bloom in the gardens
all over our town
but the clouds cool the
sunbeams, the wind
has its way while
I slip back inside
to finish my day
Amazing Love
 ~ Love Even Unto Death ~
we drink the cup
at Christ’s invitation
for complete remission
of our sins, our sinfulness
our separation from Godde
we serve our Sovereign whose
love bridges that separation
to guide us home again
and again and again
time beyond time
Home
 ~Home ~
Leaning on the everlasting arms of FatherMother Godde
I trudge along.Those arms have never failed me yet
in all my many days - all my blindly selfish ways
my ups, my downs; in gain or loss, My Savior
catches me and guides me home
my Godde, my Home
'No Write' February
-- Seasons in a writing life
Winter Window
~ My ‘No Write’ February ~
I’ve been away on another staycation
with visiting offspring from hither and yon
from over the ocean and far away places
they flew all directions to be by my side
to celebrate birthdays, meet up with
siblings and feast with each other
 all five
We each took leave of normal routine
to rekindle our hearts for a time
~ And Now It’s March ~
my muse is sweetly sleeping
I will not rush to wake her, as
my soul, too, must wake from
welcome rest after a month of
lively chatting with family here
now all returned - while quiet
slowly seeps, centering me
 to write again
Love Stays
 ~ Love Stays ~
Loss cannot destroy our love
only change the shape  of
how it stays with us, now
an  echo beating in the
heart, a foundation to
build a new life upon
new forms of
Joy
Morning Routine
~ Morning Routine ~
I come with coffee
to my pondering chair
where I begin to read or
write or wonder for a while
until something stops me in
my tracks, compelling me to
write down what it brought to
mind a poem memory or new
insight to explore to help me
understand,  enjoy this life
this gift that I’ve been led
to after loss.  This new
person I am finding in
the quiet of my day
This New Joy
Pivot
 Learning to turn
Artist, NancySpoelhof.com
~ Learning to Pivot ~
When
life’s curves catch us off guard
stun us and block our way
we must learn to pivot
to learn a new route
to bypass, detour
the threat
Sometimes the pivot comes from within
when we simply know it is time to find
a new direction, remake ourselves
and set out to conquer life again
Braiding The Remnants
 ~ Braiding The Remnants ~
I am braiding the remnants of
our almost 60 years together
the lion’s share of our days
on earth - our sweet duet
Some memories fade as age takes hold
some, stay bright as that day first told
some, thin strings, weave in and out
barely an echo hovering beyond
refusing to be conjured up
Each day I braid another row and
wrap them round and round to
tie the rug on which I dance
anchored by the echoes of
Life Niches
~ Life Niches ~
When the niche you fit in is no longer there
and no known niche fits you - anywhere
it may be time to hone new space…
carve a new corner for yourself
invite new friends to share
unearth old hobbies in
new ways you love
build fresh joy from some
small corner of before
and bloom!
For those limbo times in life when one must move from old to new; from before to after - yet find a way to thrive.  Enjoy!
Winter Oak
~ Watching Winter Oak Leaves ~
Because that oak leaf landed gently on my hand last fall
which a friend kindly memorialized in a sweet painting
and I preserved, pressed in my hard cover copy of
The Complete Poems of Emily Dickinson
the few remaining leaves still dangling from their branch
outside my window, seem to dance and wave at me
each time I look up from my writing chair.  In just
the right breeze they skitter and prance - like
frisky kittens reaching for each other then
pulling back teasing to be caught
and when the wind is strong
I marvel at their tenacious grip
*********
I’ve read of prisoners in isolation making friends
and playing with the spiders on their cell wall
I fear I’ve thus befriended old oak leaves
still  dancing at my window  as March
winds unfurl. Somehow they make
me think of John - now gone
no longer hanging on
