Shadows Dancing

~ Shadows Dancing ~

sometimes it’s hard to know

where the real you starts

and the shadows end

in life’s reflection

of the dance

Prompt: Psalm 63 Echo

~ Praise from the Shadows ~

Beloved Godde, you are my anchor
I hold on to you, rely on you, trust you
I turn to you for balance when thrown off

when thirsty, empty for answers, you
hold me steady and provide what I
need to survive on weary days

You are my sanctuary, the rock
to whom I cling.  Your love
sustains as life cannot

In the shadow of your wings
nestled in parental care
I’ll rest and sing my praise

Flashback - Morning Beauty

~ Morning Beauty ~
(Flashback to September 2012)
The Elegance of Shadow

The garden is less lovely without John’s care
and his zinnias do not grace my table now
but the shadows still enthrall me
I find such beauty there

John introduced me to the elegance of shadow
on an early date, an evening walk around
Reed’s Lake as he pointed with wonder
to the lamp post reflected at our feet

I may not have even noticed.
John saw beauty in the shadows -
a gift that keeps on giving to this day!

Facing the Darkness

Facing the Darkness

On a bleak and melancholy winter day
gloomy dark and icy cold outside
feeling fragile, weary - missing John

I pick up Ann Weems’ Kneeling in Bethlehem
and am reminded once again to
face the darkness

Not to run and hide but turn and
grapple with blind emptiness, for
in the shadows one can better

See the Light

Celebrating Shadows

CELEBRATING SHADOWS

Shadows

 play a glorious role in
the beauty of a sunny day

yet even when there is no bright light to cast them
(either in nature or in the depths of one's concern or grief)
let the grey remind us that joy is there
though hidden for a time

bright sun, unseen behind the clouds
will break through again
turning shadows into beauty with its

Light

Same Tree. Beauty even in Grey Clouds and Storm

Shadow Treasure

SHADOW TREASURE

I settle in my chair to write a bit
And notice a small painting playing on the floor
Leaves dancing back and forth
Seeping through the window pane

The sun is trying hard to cheer today
It comes and goes and drops its
Treasures at my feet
Only to disappear again

New Every Morning

New Every Morning

Another bright crisp autumn day has broken on my world.

As always, over my first cup of coffee
I check the neighbor’s garage at the back of our yard
To see what amazing design is playing there.

It is new every sunny morning.
Each day unique.
Always it is beautiful.

This morning, the silhouette is intricate.
Vivid from brilliant light pouring through branches
Capturing their shadows for a little while.

  Another reminder of the blessings
Poured out daily by the
 Light of the World.

 Often filtered by shadows
 Yet never overcome by them.

Morning Beauty

The Elegance of Shadow

September 2, 2012

The light is ever so lacy this morning!

Casting leafy shadows on the wall
and up the trunk of the old Maple tree
as sun pours through its branches
and begins to seep into the garden.

All is still this early Sunday hour.

Another lovely setting to enhance
our back porch coffee time.

Home

Zinnias from John's garden
